Scout Partner Covenant

Scout connects people in El Paso County who need help with people and organizations who can give it. If you're reading this, you're one of the latter. Thank you.

Help comes with no strings attached

No expectation of attendance, membership, conversion, or participation — not stated, not implied, not as a gentle suggestion while you're handing over the box. If a real relationship grows out of it, that's a good thing. Just make sure the help was never contingent on it.

Your help is free

You don't charge for your help. Not for your time, your labor, your knowledge, or anything you give. If someone offers you something unprompted, that's their choice — but you never ask, and nobody is ever turned away, given less, or made to feel they owe you.

The only exception is a part that has to be bought — a hose clamp, a filter. If your help might involve one, tell us before we connect you, so the person knows before they're standing in a driveway. You pass along what it cost you, never more.

You can always say no

Scout asks; you decide. There's no penalty, no quota, and no explanation required. A no just means we ask someone else.

We match you for a specific thing

Scout connects you for the help described in the request. Anything you and the person arrange beyond that is between the two of you, and Scout isn't part of it.

Some help needs more than one person

If you're an organization, help that involves entering someone's home, transporting a child, or overnight shelter requires background checks on whoever provides it and a two-adult rule — never one of your people alone with a child. If you're an individual partner, Scout will never match you for those. You'll be matched for drop-offs of goods at a doorstep or in a public place, and for help you can give without being alone with someone in their home.

Let us know when you've connected

After a match, we'll send one text asking whether you two managed to connect. One tap. That's how we learn what's working, and it's the only thing we ask of you beyond the help itself.

Privacy

We identify people by phone number and don't collect names. When we connect you, you'll get what's needed, roughly where, and when. Anything more comes from the person, if they choose to share it. Don't pass their information to anyone else.

What you can expect from us

We will never sell your information, never charge you, and never let payment affect who gets matched with whom. Not now, and not if Scout ever has sponsors or paying members. If that ever changes, we'll tell you before it changes, not after.
